construction updates for patriotic days
The City of Aurora and St. Louis County are moving forward with a major reconstruction of CSAH 100 (3rd Ave North/Main St) to replace aging infrastructure and improve safety, traffic flow, and walkability. The project includes a new mini‑roundabout at Main St and 3rd Ave North, a raised median with a business access opening, enhanced pedestrian crossings with RRFB flashers, wider sidewalks on Main Street, and a new 6‑foot sidewalk along 3rd Ave North. Aurora is also upgrading nearby city streets with new utilities, realigning 3rd Street to improve access to Mesabi East School, extending the Mesabi Trail into the downtown area, installing a new 12‑inch water transmission line, and improving parking areas at Pine Grove Park and the Community Center. Together, these improvements aim to modernize the corridor, support local businesses, and create safer, more accessible routes for drivers, pedestrians, and trail users. During construction, a detour will route traffic from Erie St. N to Central Ave for the duration of the project, and an alternative truck detour will be available via Hwy 4. These improvements aim to modernize the corridor, support local businesses, and create safer, more accessible routes for drivers, pedestrians, and trail users.
